This book was definitely a whirlwind of emotions. As Pearce argues, mainstream environmentalists are right that we need a rewilding of the earth, but they are wrong if they imagine that we can achieve that by reengineering ecosystems. Doss is an author I admire but I must say that here he has not offered the characters, the story or the readers any respect. The book sounded a little lecture-ey, even more so when I read it to my 6-year-old. It is informative and current, and while focused on nutrition, nicely links these principles to important questions regarding exercise and drug therapies, among other issues.
